Those who follow my blog know I love my designer jeans. However, there is one huge drawback in buying them. When you buy jeans from Seven, you can only buy them in one length. They make the jean the longest that any normal person would ever want. I'm sure they do this in order to make their inventory simpler to maintain and to keep their cost low since they do not have less variety to control for.
However, this tends to be a pain in my ass because I'm lazy. I have to go find a tailor to alter my jeans and hem the cuff. Since I'm lazy, this can take me several weeks to do. So I go and spend $200 on a pair of jeans, and I don't get any use of them for several weeks after that.
Still think it is worth it, but I really wish I didn't have to go through the additional hassle of getting them hemmed. Luckily, if you buy them from Nordstrom, they usually have a tailor on site who will do it for free. But when I don't buy them from Nordstrom, I have to wait to enjoy my purchase.

Tempur-Pedic Pillows - Well worth it
Wednesday, January 23, 2008
After I bought my second pillow, my girlfriend liked it so much, she started stealing it from me. It forced me to buy yet another pillow from them. I considered buying their stock for a while (I actually should have as it went up like a rocket several months after I looked into it)
Think about it. You sleep on your pillow every night. You spend, hopefully, eight hours on it every day. What else do you use as much (other than the mattress itself). I guess I see it kind of like designer jeans. If you are going to use something a lot, you might as well really enjoy it.

Are Designer Jeans Worth It?
Sunday, November 18, 2007
Someone found their way to my blog with a search on Google for Diesel Jeans worth it. This points to my post about if I thought the pair of Diesel Jeans I bought and if I thought they were worth the money. People find their way to this site in lots of different ways, the most popular by far being "should college athletes be paid". or "are athletes paid too much?"(quick side comment, I was shocked to see how many comments were on that post. People really do feel passionate about that don't they?) So with all the various reasons why people end up on my blog, why would I even post about this?Well I just have an obvious weakness for designer jeans. And I'm oddly proud that somehow I made it to the top of the Google rankings for this search. Granted it's pretty specific, and it is basically the title of my post, but still, it was something I felt was pretty cool.
Quick update about the jeans by the way. I actually still own that pair of Diesel jeans, but I honestly don't wear them all that often. I now have several more pairs of designer jeans, but for the most part I don't buy Diesel, and haven't in many years. My favorite brand by far is Seven, and I own several pairs of them. I also did end up buying that $200 pair of Citizen for Humanity jeans. They are great as well, but I think I still prefer the Sevens. I ended up buying so many pairs because it literally has become all I wear. I get tremendous use from them, so in the end it became worth it to pay a little more for something I really like and use all the time.
I think what I like best about it is that I always get my jeans tailored to fit me, so the length is always perfect. I didn't know until my girlfriend pointed it out to me that Nordstrom tailors pants for free if you buy it from them. Ever since I found this out, and got my Jeans tailored by them, I haven't looked back.
By the way, as I finished writing this post, I felt very gay all of the sudden. Excuse me, I have to go kiss my girlfriend now.
Expensive Jeans
Friday, December 02, 2005
My one guilty pleasure, the only thing I really waste money on, is designer jeans. Since I have bought my first pair of designer jeans, I have never gone back. The other day I was in the store with my girlfriend and we saw a beautiful pair of jeans from Citizens for Humanity. They were however $200. I don't mind spending $160 but $200 is starting to be a little ridiculous. Still, I was so tempted to buy them. Besides, what is $40 when you are already paying $160I'm not the only one though. Here is an article about expensive jeans. It seems there are some jeans that retail for $10,000. Makes my $200 seem little in comparison.
The Bubble Is About to Burst

No, not the housing bubble, the Denim bubble. Since everybody gets on me for paying so much for my jeans I figured I would post the link. See, I'm not the only one riding the high-end denim wave.

Diesel Jeans: Worth it?
Sunday, April 13, 2003
So I went and did it. Every year for my birthday I buy myself something kind of frivolous. One year I bought some rollerblades, another year I bought some RayBan Sunglasses. This year I topped myself, I bought a pair of Diesel Jeans.
I went to South Coast Plaza because they have a Diesel Store. You can buy Diesel Jeans in stores like Nordstroms but I figured my first trip into the world of designer jeans I would go straight to the source. I must say that I love South Coast Plaza. I know there are a lot of people who have a problem with this bastion of capitalism but people who know me know why I love this place. Its big and it has infinite choices . If you can buy it its probably somewhere in South Coast. People in OC just have too much time and money.
So are the jeans worth it? People who own them swear by them. For me the jury is still out. I like the way they look, and I like the way they feel so right off the bat I will say that they are better jeans. But are they worth 3x-4x the cost of regular jeans. Well supposedly Diesels don't wear out as fast and are really good about keeping their color so I'll have to let you know in a few months.
