I was watching TV on mute, the channel 5 news, and the closed captioning read:
"and the man was respectfully beaten to death"
I have no idea what was really said but I assume that somehow the closed captioning got this wrong. Can someone be respectfully beaten to death?

At the gym last week the United Church of Christ was in the news for supporting gay marriage. The closed captioning, however, read "United Chump of Christ". Not sure if that one was a typo or not. Either way, there are a lot of incompetant closed captioning workers. Not that I could scoff at them too much. The steno machines are hard to use and they have to type really fast.
